New trainees starting their program

Statkraft’s international trainee program is very popular among graduates. During the two years of the program, the trainees will have four different job rotations that are put together based on the professional background and competence development needs of the trainee. This on-the-job training is the core of the program, and in addition they will participate in courses and gatherings to develop their personal skills and share their experiences.

“This industry is extremely interesting! There is so much happening at the moment. My home country, Germany, has decided to shut down all nuclear power plants. This means that we will need to find new sources to meet our energy demands,” says Alexander Gleim.

“I wanted to work with renewable energy. Statkraft was the obvious choice,” says Sondre Brovold.

“If you want to work with wind power, Statkraft is the place to be. Off the coast of the UK the large offshore wind park Sheringham Shoal has recently been completed, and now we are constructing the Dudgeon wind farm which will be even bigger. These projects are really exciting,” says Laxman Pararasasingam.

During the first week of the program the trainees get an overview of the company’s history, organisation and operations through meetings and presentations from members of the Corporate Management team and experienced employees from key areas in Statkraft. They are also introduced to the program and receiving advice on how to make the most of the program from previous trainees.

Presenting the eight new Statkraft trainees:

• Laxman Pararasasingam from Germany holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from University College London. He will be working with wind analysis in Statkraft.
• Daniel Christophersen is Scottish and Norwegian and has recently completed his master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Edinburgh. He will be part of the HSE team in Statkraft’s Wind Power business area.
• Sondre Brovold from Norway has recently completed a master’s degree in energy and environment from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He will be working with energy management and is starting his trainee program at Statkraft’s Nordic dispatch centre.
• Tobias Persson from Sweden holds a master’s degree in mathematical engineering from the Lund University. He will be working with risk management within Statkraft’s market operations.
• Alexander Gleim is German and has recently completed his Ph.D. in econometrics from the University of Bonn. He will be working for the Commercial Asset Optimisation team in Düsseldorf.
• Agnethe Hoff Finnøy is Norwegian and holds a master’s degree in geology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She has joined Statkraft’s Power Generation business area, where she will be part of the Civil & Environment team.
• Sara Baumgarten from Sweden will also be part of the Power Generation business area, working in Statkraft’s competence hub for operations and maintenance. She holds a master’s degree in energy and environment from the Linköping University.
• Justina Banyte from Lithuania has recently completed her master’s degree in economy, specialising in energy, at the Norwegian School of Economics. She is joining the financial reporting, accounting and tax team.
