Statkraft to Copenhagen

The negotiations for an international climate agreement will put their mark on the Danish capital from 7 to 18 December. Statkraft will, together with Bellona, encourage the city dwellers and visitors to Copenhagen to take part in one of the most significant events of our time.
“The Copenhagen summit represents an excellent opportunity for Statkraft to present and discuss solutions with politicians, climate experts and media from all over the world. Our planet is in trouble, and Statkraft will contribute in the work to help find the solutions for the future. It is important to us to work with Bellona, which is an important premise provider for the summit,” says Bård Mikkelsen, President and CEO of Statkraft.

Interactive climate table

The cooperation agreement, named “101 Solutions”, means that Statkraft and Bellona are among the main players in a massive popular event at Rådhuspladsen in the centre of Copenhagen. One of the activities on show will be a completely new computer table where people can combine various environment measures interactively and see the emissions and cost consequences.

“We wish to present solutions to the climate crisis, to create hope and courage for the world’s politicians and negotiators, and to make it impossible not to commit fully to an ambitious climate agreement,” says Fredric Hauge, head of Bellona. “We feel confident when it comes to Statkraft’s ambitions. It is an innovative company,” Hauge says. He is pleased that Statkraft wants to join a "coalition of the willing”, in order to promote a solution-oriented message.

Central venues

In addition to participating in the event hosted by the Copenhagen Municipality and being present at the negotiation centre, Statkraft and Bellona have also secured some centrally located venues in Copenhagen. One of the venues is a so-called “green room” where the two organisations, partners and negotiation delegates can hold informal talks.
